ACTIVATE YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD

Girobank would like to remind you that it is not possible to use your Girobank card in other countries without first activating it. Due to unusual activities on accounts in certain countries, we have blocked all Girobank payment cards from gaining access to ATM’s and POS in other countries to minimize possible damage to our clients.

We strive to ensure that our clients can perform worry-free financial transactions at any time in any place. That is why it is important to activate your Girobank debit or credit card for usage abroad!

To activate your card(s) please visit one of our branches (locations) in order to activate your payment card(s). For more information call us on +5999 433 9130.

Besides these measurements, the best protection for any form of theft is to always be alert.

The following are a few tips to give you an idea of how you can minimize the risk of becoming a victim when you are on a vacation or business trip.

  • Change your pin prior to- and after your trip at any of our branches.
  • Sign up to receive Mobile Banking alerts and messages whenever a transaction takes place on your debit- or credit card accounts. When using a debit card, no matter where you are in the world, you will instantly receive an SMS stating that a transaction has taken place on your current account.
  • You will be notified of transactions on your credit card via e-mail. Should you receive a message indicating a transaction has taken place of which you have no knowledge, contact us immediately? We will then ensure that you continue having access to your funds for an uninterrupted trip.
  • Sign up for our ‘Online Banking’ service. This is another effective way to monitor your accounts for irregularities.
  • Do not lose sight of your card. We often, innocently, let clerks and waiting staff walk away with our card to return with a slip of paper to sign. This can be potentially dangerous as it only takes a few seconds to copy all relevant information from your card. Think of your card as an extremely valuable item and go to the cashier yourself. Watch them process your card and then sign.
